Support Growing for Legislator Cooling Off Period

A bill that would require Indiana legislators to wait one year between serving in office and becoming a lobbyist appears to be gaining momentum in the statehouse.  The legislation, authored by Senator Patricia Miller of Indianapolis, makes the change from current policy, which allows lawmakers to be hired as lobbyists immediately after their terms.  Now, House Minority leader Brian Bosma, also of Indianapolis, says conditions are right for the bill to become law.  Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Marianne Holland spoke with him about rising support for the legislation.
