New Data on Indiana’s Nursing Shortage

Indiana has the highest rate of vacancies among staff registered nurses in nursing homes in the nation.  That’s according to a report from the American Health Care Association, showing Indiana’s nursing vacancy rate is twenty six percent.  The organization’s report showed that for 2007, Indiana was also has a critical shortage of certified nurse aids, ranking 8th in the United States.  The organization says turnover rates are also high, sixty six percent nationwide. Turnover rates for certified nurse aids in Indiana were ninety three percent.
