No Decision on Whether To Appeal Federal Sex Offender Ruling

Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter says he still hasn’t decided whether to appeal a federal court ruling that strikes down part of a new Indiana law allowing law enforcement to monitor the online activities of convicted sex offenders.  He says however, that other portions of the law will still take effect July first.  Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Marianne Holland reports.

Midwest Governors Ask Bush to Require Less Aid Payback

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels the governors of Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin are asking the federal government to reduce the amount of money it requires state and local governments to pay pack to FEMA for disaster relief.  For Indiana Public Broadcasting, I’m Marianne Holland.

New Law Tightens Penalty On Misspent Funeral Money

A new state law takes effect July first that aims to better protect people who pay for their funeral expenses in advance.  The law will create tougher penalties against those who misspend those funeral trust funds.  Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Marianne Holland reports.

Health Department Warns of Salmonella Poisoning

Seven cases of salmonella poisoning from raw tomatoes have now been reported in Indiana.  That’s in additional to at least 138 more nationwide.  Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Marianne Holland reports.

Governor Daniels Cancels Trip to Japan

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels has canceled his trip to Japan this week in light of severe floods that are damaging many counties in the central part of the state.  Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Marianne Holland reports.

Pence Formally Announces Run for Attorney General

While it’s been public knowledge for some time that former Department of Justice attorney Linda Pence had filed to run for attorney general, Thursday she officially kicked off her candidacy with media stops across the state.  Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Marianne Holland reports.

Tornadoes Touch Down in Central Indiana

Severe weather, including high winds, storms and tornadoes hit south central and eastern Indiana Tuesday night, causing damage across several counties.  The storms caused injuries, destroyed homes and left thousands of people without power.  Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Marianne Holland reports.
